Biography of deputy prefect Darko Sobota
Darko Sobota was born on January 03rd 1965 in Kalinovac where he still lives. He attended elementary school in Kalinovac and secondary school in Koprivnica and Križevci. He graduated at the community college of agriculture in 1989 and obtained the title of an agricultural engineer. He started working in the Agricultural cooperative in Kalinovac where he was employed till 2003.
In the period from 1997 till 2003 along with his regular work he was serving as the president of the Municipal council of Kalinovac municipality and from 2003 till 2009 he professionally served as head of Kalinovac municipality. Since May 17th 2009 he is the deputy of the Koprivnica-Križevci County prefect. He is significantly politically active in his community; he is a member of the Croatian Democratic Union since 1991. He held a number of positions in the party. He is the president of the Municipal Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union from 1998 till today and in the same year he became a member of the County Committee. From 2004 till 2012 he was the vice president of the County Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union and in 2012 he was elected chairman of the County Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union. He is a member of the National Council of the Croatian Democratic Union.
Additionally to the political life over many years he is also active in the social life of Kalinovac: Football club, Hunting association, Agricultural association. He is the chairman of the Association of winegrowers, winemakers and fruit growers of the Koprivnica Križevci County. He is a veteran of the Croatian War of Independence, Croatian War of Independence Testimonial Holder 1990-1992. Married and father of two children. He lives with his family in Kalinovac.
